Flakstadtinden, located on Flakstadøya in the Lofoten Islands, is a moderate yet steep hike offering spectacular views of mountains, fjords, and the open sea. The 3.4 km round-trip trail is short but steep, making it a challenging yet time-efficient adventure. The hike typically takes 2–3 hours round trip, depending on pace and weather conditions.
At 484m, the summit rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramic views, including the golden beaches of Skagsanden and Flakstadsanden, the deep blue Norwegian Sea, and the towering Hustinden (691m) in the distance.
The Flakstadtinden trailhead is located along the E10 highway, near Flakstad Church. However, parking at the trailhead is very limited, with space for only 2–3 cars in a small roadside pull-off. Since this fills up quickly, especially during peak season, arriving early in the morning or later in the evening is recommended if you want a spot.

For those who cannot find parking at the trailhead, there is a larger alternative parking area at Brunstranda Rasteplass, just a few hundred meters away along E10. This parking area provides public restrooms, more space for vehicles, and a safe place to park without blocking traffic.

The trailhead is located along the E10 highway, near the small roadside parking area. From here, pass through an electric fence and follow the well-worn trail alongside a small stream. The path gradually ascends through a grassy valley, staying to the right of the stream.
If you park at Brunstranda Rasteplass, you will need to walk along the roadside for a few hundred meters to reach the trailhead.
Flakstadtinden is a short but quite demanding hike due to its steep incline. The 3.4 km round-trip trail starts with a gentle climb through a grassy valley, following a small stream. Be prepared for muddy sections, especially after rain, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
As you gain elevation, the trail curves west around the base of the mountain, offering wider views of the surrounding landscape. After a moderate climb, you will reach a small wind shelter, a perfect place to take a break before the steepest section begins.
From here, the terrain changes as the trail becomes rockier and steeper, quickly gaining height. Near the top, the trail narrows briefly, creating a short but safe exposed section. While some hikers may find this section intimidating, it does not require any technical climbing. Simply take your time and watch your footing.
At the summit of Flakstadtinden (484m), you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. Below, the golden beaches of Skagsanden and Flakstadsanden stretch along the coastline, creating a beautiful contrast against the turquoise waters of the Norwegian Sea. Looking further, you can see Hustinden (691m) rising majestically in the distance, adding to the dramatic scenery.
